What a great little cafe and bar! They have a fantastic selection of beer. Lots of great seating choices (comfortable armchairs, sofas, wooden chairs and tables, etc). I needed a light lunch, so I ordered a caprese (tomato, mozzarella, and pesto) panini. Delicious! It was a rather large sandwich, so my husband uncomplainingly finished it off for me. We really enjoyed relaxing here for a couple hours.

I swear whenever I try to plan a meeting with someone, they are randomly closed. At least we now have CSalt as an alternative, but it's a completely different atmosphere.

I just moved into the neighborhood and had to check out The Local. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. There isn't a lot going on in Cape Elizabeth but this place could rival some of the Portland bars. They have a decent selection of beers and the wait staff were really good. I ended up getting the lamb burger with feta, tomato, olives.. very Mediterranean. It was very tasty too! This place doubles as the local cafe as well. I was told they get fresh bagels every morning and they also make some nice breakfast meals. I think everything is locally sourced too. I'll definitely be making this a regular stop.

Decided to give this place another try. Walked in on a sunny day to a dark dank place. Could not find anyone behind the counter. A disinterested blonde did not look like she was going to serve me and a hipster dude with his jeans down to his knees finally decided to serve. Worst latte ever. Did not even taste like coffee was in it. Clearly the owner is not reading these reviews or else this place is a front for some other business coz brewing good coffee and serving customers is clearly not a priority for this 'local buzz kill'

I don't know why this place has such low reviews, I think it may have something to do with one of the workers who used to be here, but she's gone, so y'all can come back now! I know one of the chefs here, and all the food I've sampled is always delicious. He also is willing to make changes to items if you have dietary restrictions (such as not eating fish in terms of the brussel sprouts). They have great beers on tap, read Allagash White, and the crowd is typically an older, more subdued crowd. This is one of the only places in Cape Elizabeth to go for a beer or some wine that's open late, so my best friend and I find ourselves here pretty often when I'm up visiting. They also serve coffee and breakfast in the morning, and it's always delicious. The coffee is a bit pricey, but if you factor in the amount of gas you spend driving into South Portland (ew) to get Dunkin Donuts, then it all evens out.

As Cape Elizabeth locals, we enjoy having The Local Buzz available when we don't want to drive into Portland to find a nice spot to sit and relax. They seem to cater to everyone with a kid's corner, an extensive bar, snacks and even meals to order freshly prepared, as well as their delicious coffee and tea drinks. I especially enjoy their chai tea latte as well as their dirty chai latte (chai with espresso). They have a variety of seating options (bar stools by the window, comfy leather couches/chairs, benches, small tables and chairs) and they always have interesting local artists' work on display. The live music and events such as poetry readings that they host are always fun as well. My only complaint would be their seemingly odd hours... We have arrived quite a few times to find them sadly closed. Nonetheless, The Local Buzz deserves two thumbs up and many more visits from us!

I'm local and a Local Buzz fan. I go at least once week. Friendly, good coffee, food, and bar. Wifi and nice seats if you need to spend time on your laptop. They often have music. Burger and beers on Wed night is a solid value. If you are a runner, meet us there on Sundays at 8am for a few miles and coffee.

Local Buzz has a great atmosphere and concept (coffee bar/ wine bar) however the service and supply have been lackluster on my two visits there. One time the internet doesn't work, OK....second time internet still not working, not OK. Last time my husband and I went for lunch I actually ordered 5 items on the menu before one was "Available"... "sorry we're out of that"...."sorry we're actually out of that too" and on and on, until I settled on the hummus wrap which had too much super garlic-y hummus. I wish they would fix their internet, have happier staff, and keep their small menu in better supply...and then I would be a regular. But for now it's off my list of prospects for lunch or work-from-home days. Sorry Local Buzz :(

I absolutely love the lattes at this place. I've had great experiences, good customer service. Rosemary bagels are to die for! Would recommend this place to others.

The Local Buzz is a tremendous asset to the Cape Elizabeth community. Fantastic coffee (CBD) in the morning, wonderful sandwiches and salads for lunch, and thoughtfully-selected wines (not your standard 'grocery store' brands) for the evening. In addition to their offerings, the Buzz is a 'good citizen' by supporting local charities and entertainment. I have found the wait staff is personable, friendly, and flexible. For those of us who have been hoping for a cozy, casual, comfortable gathering place in Town Center that offers great food and drinks, the Buzz fits the bill. Business or pleasure, it's one of my favorite meeting spots.

Excellent selection of beer and wine. Tasty eats. Very nice decor. Visit on one of the evenings when they feature local musicians. I truly enjoyed listening to Nate Perry, Adam Agati and James Donahue during a visit for a beer in November

I had gone on a long run a couple of weeks ago and one thing I like after a long run is coffee. After having heard about The Local Buzz and how it is a bar/music at night, I was thinking of having a suprise date night there, but decided to check it out before hand by grabbing some coffee. I have to say, I received the absolute worst service I've ever had, and I've been to a lot of places. Not only was my cup of coffee expensive, but the blonde haired girl working there was the most rude person I have ever met at a customer service type of place. People who work in coffee shops are generally more upbeat and positive, as you would want to experience when starting your day. Not only did this start my day off badly, but I wasted my money, and didn't even want the coffee at that point. That girl should be working an over night shift where she doesn't have to provide customer service or smile. I'm so sorry to my local coffee shop for choosing this place that morning.

I rarely feel the need to give a review below 3 stars, but the service is so bad at the buzz on a regular basis this had to be done. I will start by noting that the food at the local buzz is actually pretty decent, but certainly a bit overpriced compared to similar quality in the area. Easily worthy of 3+ stars though and the coffee is usually pretty good as well. I've had a few luke warm cups, but that seems less common of late. I swore off ever going to the buzz for food and drinks again about a year ago after experiencing horrible serive mutiple times while the place was dead,. I go in from time to time during the day and drink a cup of coffee, but that's it. Last weekend some close friends were playing in the band there, so I broke down and said what the heck lets grab a bite to eat and a few drinks. We arrived and sat at a table for 10-15 minutes before going up to the bar to ask if there was a server or are we supposed to order at the counter. We were told the server would be right along. We managed to make it through the process of ordering drinks and food without too much trouble, but that's where anything resembling service ended. Once the food was dropped on the table our server didn't show up again until long after we had all finished eating. During this process I sat and waited 15+ minutes in hopes of ordering a new drink before going up to the bar to get one. Our waitress was nice enough to stop by after I did this and ask if I got my new drink OK. Yes, thanks for all your help! Despite the fact that everyone was clearly done eating she walked off empty handed and left all of our dishes sitting on the table for another 20+ minutes. Later she managed to muster up the motivation to clear the table over the course of two trips separated by more than 10 minutes. Only 4 people ate and we did not get appetizers. I managed to order 1 more beer from the waitress before giving up on her and ordering everything else from the bar. When I asked to pay my bill at the end of the night she was nice enough to hand me this giant laundry list of a bill that included everything ordered by anyone sitting near me and ask that i sort it out. What a pro! Serving tiny 8$ shots in what I believe were juice glasses also a classy touch. If the local buzz wants to pretend to be a bar/restaurant at night they need to hire at least one employee that has actually worked in and not been cast off from the service industry. Another crazy idea, train your employees to pay attention to the customers.

the kickstarter campaign failed. but the buzz is continuing to try their luck at serving dinner with a limited kitchen. good luck folks!

I have never reviewed anything until now, but feel the need to warn people about this place. This could be a great spot; however, the service is absolutely horrible! It is a bunch of stuck up snobs who feel the need to treat customers like they are idiots. The place is also dirty! I'm a local and will not being going back after multiple attempts hoping for change.

Not sure how this stays in business.. After a long hiatus I went back last week... Still expensive and yet not all that friendly. It has gone downhill in a few years...

My family and I were checking out Portland Head lighthouse and some of the other local scenery in the area south of Portland and decided to checkout the nearby Local Buzz for a bit of food and drink. Nice spot with a well-chosen selection of draft beer and wine by-the-glass as well as light eats -- we enjoyed the paninis! It is pretty clearly more of a local spot than for touristas like us, and the staff went out of its way to make us feel at home. Though we arrived at a time of day when we were more interested in a beer and a bite to eat than a cup of java, it is also a place that seems serious about serving up its caffine, with some very appealing choices. On top of everything else, we were able to catch-up on our email using the WiFi while relaxing on their comfortable couches.
